VYI
Hall of Fame
The VYI Hall of Fame was originally created in 1997 to honor the men and women who founded VYI over 30 years ago as well as those today and in the future who continue the tradition of nurturing the youth of Vienna. The original men and women who founded VYI conceived an idea to form an organization that would provide the means for boys and girls to participate in a range of organized sports activities before they got to high school. Some of the founders of VYI actually took out second mortgages on their own homes to finance the early needs of the organization. Their unselfish original ideas and hard work have provided many thousands of boys and girls in this community an opportunity to play organized athletics. Subsequently, a number of other individuals have provided financial support, ideas and just plain hard work over many years to continue the tradition started by the founding members, so these individuals are recognized and honored as well.
Without an organization such as VYI, even in a small close–knit community such as ours, the opportunities for our children to play organized sports would be considerably lessened. It is for this opportunity, and for all the players past, present, and future who are an integral part of VYI, that the Board of Directors wishes to honor those who had the foresight, energy, and perseverance to conceive and nurture Vienna Youth Inc.
